January/February 2020 Newsletter

I hope that everybody’s second semester is starting well. We have a number of important pieces of information in the newsletter this week, so please read all the way through.

Next week we are heading to ILMEA with five orchestra students to perform in state ensembles. ILMEA is a state organization that sponsors honors ensembles, but also provides for great learning opportunities for teachers as well. While students are rehearsing teachers attend meetings, performances, and learning sessions. This year I organized and will be leading a music reading session through the Illinois American String Teacher Association. The conference is a great opportunity to come up with new ideas, new music, and get some inspiration for the year.

Since winter break we have also had a great opportunity to have two rehearsals with Ms. Krista Halvorson. She worked with all of the orchestra in two separate rehearsals. It was a unique opportunity to have a new perspective on our music for the March concert. Thank you to HOPE for sponsoring her visit.
